Somewhat inspired by a post by
oldtoadwoman, I've decided to make a short list of things I've accomplished this month, as well as things that I hope to make progress on in February. Then, at the end of the year, I can look back on them and see what I've been up to! Plus, I worked hard this month, and it wasn't always easy. I think I deserve some credit!
Plus, I'll include a list of things I read/watched/played this month, and how I felt about them.
This Month's Accomplishments! <3
-Cleaned home bedroom enough to make it a livable space
-Made massive headway on summer internship applications
-Wrote +- 14,000 words of fiction on various projects, plus thousands of words of notes.
-Started with a lovely new therapist!
-Finished the scarf I was making for my boyfriend!
Media Thoughts!
-I reread Ann Leckie's Ancillary Justice this month, because one of my internship applications called for a short book review. Still, I really enjoyed myself, and tore through the book in just a couple of days. It's got a little of everything, this book--a tight plot and some action, but also fantastic, rich worldbuilding and a really satisfying amount of heart. It's been one of my favorite books since I first read it around this time last year, and it's gonna stay that way. If you want to read a space opera, get your damn hands on this book, because you're not about to find a better one.
-I've been watching the new season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and while I felt that the first episode was a little awkward, it's really hit its stride since then! Tonight's episode in particular was fantastic.
-I just recently bought the Seasons and City Living expansions for The Sims 4, and so far I've been really happy with them! I only got hold of them a couple of days ago, so I haven't done all of the exploring that I might like, but they seem really promising. City Living in particular delivers a truly impressive amount of content, and the world that ships with it is so big and bustling that I had to adjust my graphics settings--my machine was overwhelmed!
-The star of the show for this month has been Fune wo Amu, a very peaceful anime about conviction, love, and dictionary writing. It's only one season, so there's not a huge time commitment, but I feel as though they've managed to pull off a very satisfying story arc in the time available. The characters all shine, no matter how minor--it's one of those rare shows that can make the viewer feel as though they are among friends. It's absolutely lovely (save for that one weird timeskip) and I implore you to check it out if you enjoy, you know, relaxing. And books. And cats.
Next Month's Goals!
-Continue writing, especially on PB! School is starting, but I'm sure that I can manage to bang out at least 7,500 words!
-Readjust to school life! I want to be on time to my classes and sleep and eat as properly as I can!
-Don't beef it at the internship fair!
-Get some applications submitted!
How was January for all of y'all!? What are you planning on accomplishing within the next month? Did you read, watch, or play anything that you really liked this month?
