working out some plot stuff (all the plot stuff, really) for that fic i'm working on. this is easier than i remember it being, but the story... is turning out quite darker than i'd really wanted it to. and longer.

oh well. i am a river to my people, i will finish this fic no matter what it takes!

i dunno if i have any fire emblem friends on me at the moment, but i'll pop this in the tag, see if anyone finds it.

here's an excerpt:

Lucina nodded slowly, reached up to wipe the sticky, crusting tears from her cheeks. “In... I fear this might be hard to explain. In the timeline that I come from... you and Father were never married. Before the two of you could--could fall in love...” she sighed. Now was possibly the worst time to blush. “Father married someone else.”The words tumbled from her mouth at once, and she had to wonder if they were quite coherent.

And part of her wanted to leave it at that, to just... stop, to stop allowing this to cause anyone else pain. But she was in too deep now to leave it, and it just. It simply wouldn’t be right.

“Father, you... In the past--the other past, you had married Frederick.”

stay tuned for time travel shenanigans... because not everything is inexorable.
