My answer: When I was studying for my first round of finals my freshman year, I spent the day at home. It was around midnight the night before my first exam, and it was finally time to hit the hay. I was so excited to go to bed, I was zipping all around the house getting ready. I had made myself a cup of tea, and, having decided that it had steeped enough, I bounded upstairs to go get it.
Big mistake--as I was running past a corner in the wall, I misjudged where I was and didn't quite clear it. I stubbed my fourth toe on that foot SEVERELY, so badly that the toe was pointing in a VERY wrong direction. I'd shattered the little bastard into, like, three+ pieces. Spent three+ hours in the hospital that night, absolutely high off my ass on the endorphins you get when you hurt yourself real bad. It was the best. I sang to the doctor and fell in love with the nurse.
Lucky, though--I didn't have to get surgery, and managed to get that day's exam rescheduled. I was in an orthopedic boot for months, and I had to tie a ribbon around it to make it festive for Christmas. Where I picked up a virus from my little cousin.
Sigh.
