taking cues from
coyoteclaw11, i decided to try ellimist's trope sorter! it was really fun--i sped through +- 150 questions in a hot minute.
maybe i'll use this as inspiration to write some fic!
results below!!!
1. Snowed-In Cabin/Isolated Together For Extended Period of Time
that's some good ust shit to be Quite Honest With You. i'm also very fond of road trips and other forced-proximity scenarios.
2. Unusually Specific Occupation AU, Like, The Author Clearly Has The Same Job
'cause then you feel like you're learning something!
3. Loyalty Kink
don't even @ me about this one
4. Found Families
sometimes the real family was the fic we read along the way
5. 'Falling For A Coworker/Teammate Is A Bad Idea' Except This Is Fiction So It Works Out
don't @ me about this one either
and the bottom five!
33. Selfcest (possibly due to time travel)
i just don't get the appeal.
34. Hogwarts AU
jk rowling is really souring the hp milk for me right now. but it's not a concept i actually dislike. i don't think i've ever read one i liked.
35. Vampires/Werewolves AU
i never got into this sort of thing--though i really don't have anything against it conceptually!
36. Daemons
again, not a bad concept! i've just never read the golden compass, so i don't really get it.
37. 'Everyone is Evil'/Mirrorverse AU
okay, this is one i actually don't like. sue me.
one thing--i've never actually read a pride and prejudice au, so it didn't turn up in my top five, but that concept is right the fuck up my alley.

Date: 2019-02-11 08:26 am (UTC)Oh, I mean that daemon can be perceived as an alternative spelling of demon - they are even listed together in Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon_(disambiguation) I prefer the malevolent / controversial ones. Good guys are boring ;)
Too true about the old fiction, I thought it's just me... Some books are still readable, e.g. Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. I remember I had tried reading something by Jane Austin, but couldn't get through more than a few pages.

Date: 2019-02-11 05:13 pm (UTC)jane austen was a really innovative and influential author and i wish i could read her work but... like... maybe if i had the kind of free time that austen's target audience had, but i don't.
