casualbirdHello! I'm back again with another retrospective post! I've been a very busy little bee this month, and yet it feels like I haven't gotten a thing done! Maybe I'll see some progress if I list it all out.
Accomplishments
- I was elected as the vice president of my university's tabletop gaming club! I'm so excited!! This is a big step towards my ultimate goal of being club president next year, since the current president is graduating.
- One of my submissions to my university's literary magazine was accepted! I'm still waiting to hear about the second one, though.
- I didn't make a HUGE fool of myself at the Job and Internship Fair... though I did fuck up and curtsy to one recruiter instead of shaking his hand. Oh, well! I didn't want to work for him anyway!
- I plotted just a little past the midpoint of my ongoing project, and published six shorter fanworks!
- I submitted three internship applications!
- I wrote a truly bitchin' paper on representation in Fullmetal Alchemist--perhaps I'll post it here!
- And the big one--I came out as a lesbian! Which was a surprise to nobody, even my boyfriend at the time. Oops. Sorry, honey.

- I read some of Danez Smith's poetry for class this month. They're a local queer poet of color, and their work is just fantastic! I just tore through their book Don't Call Us Dead, it was so moving. My favorite poem of theirs is called Dinosaurs in the Hood, you should really do yourself a favor and check it out.
- The indie band Darlingside is very good! I just discovered them recently, so I haven't listened to all of their work, but I like what I've heard thus far! They remind me a bit of Bleachers. I very much like the video for their song Best of the Best of Times--it's very charmingly low-rent, and features my favorite comedian, Chris Fleming!
- I've been playing a lot of Smash with my friends! I'm not especially good at it, but I'm learning pretty quickly and can manage to be a bit of a threat. I mainly play Lucina, Zero Suit Samus, and Corrin. Who do you main?
Goals
- I want to get more sleep! I'm already making headway on this, but feel I could do better.
- I want to eat breakfast more often! As it stands, I usually have to skip because it's hard for me to get out of bed in the morning.
- I want to finish outlining the plot for my big fic project! I know I can do it, because I'm already more than halfway there!
