i finished with my last final today, and i think i did a really good job at it! it was an essay exam, so i was writing for about ninety minutes straight. my hand still feels like it wants to come apart... but it was worth it! the prof gave me back some papers on my way out, and she had some nice comments for me on these too. so i'm proud of myself, and pleased that i'll have some leisure time in the coming days.

during my break, i'm going to work on that fe:a fic i've been so excited about, and i'm also going to read becky chambers' the long way to a small angry planet. that's enough for goals for a couple of weeks, anyway!

i'll try to avoid too much stress around the holidays, especially since my mom is acting like the world is falling down around her ears because she has to host some stuff. not that i blame her, she's a wonderful person who is always overtaxed, but she really gets it into her head that everything has to be perfect and it can make her difficult to deal with. she's an ethicist, so... 'this is why everyone hates moral philosophy professors.'

i kid, of course. my mother is an uncrowned saint driven half-mad by the expectation that she be a happy homemaker while she has to deal with every fucking thing else.

still! i'm happy to be home with my family, and to have time to do the things i want to do!

hey, thank you! i managed to convince her to make reservations at a restaurant instead of hosting one of her functions, which will take a lot of pressure off of her.

i'm really proud of her.
